How I Became Mompreneur
About a year ago my husband and I were blessed to find out that I was pregnant so I wanted to fast track my MBA at The University of St. Thomas. I decided to take an extra course that semester and registered for Digital Marketing Fundamentals the week before it started. The principles and unlimited marketing possibilities got me jazzed and I was highly inspired by my professor, Gino Giovannelli and the career he's made. The class allowed me to gain a better understanding of all that is involved in digital marketing (search engine optimization [SEO], search advertising, email marketing, social marketing, etc.). I fell in love with it because of the ability to make real-time adjustments to campaigns or marketing tactics and see the impact and results it has on a business.
I decided to continue my digital marketing passion by also pursuing St. Thomas' certificate in Digital Experience and becoming a Certified Digital Marketing Professional (CDMP). That meant I had to take more in depth digital marketing courses including Digital Marketing Experience. By taking Digital Marketing Experience I was able to develop this website and work with a team (Karen & Emily) to prepare a digital marketing strategy for a local business called MapYourTravels.com.
Fast forward to the birth of my son, Chase, in June 2017. I had a lot of time to reflect and decide what I wanted to do with my life while I was on my 12 week maternity leave. All I knew is that if I was going to be away from Chase five days a week, I wanted to love what I do. I decided to quit my full-time job, stay at home with Chase, and launch my company.
That brings us to today, where most of my days are filled with building my business, finishing grad school, and taking care of Chase, who is now four months old. I like to call myself a "Mompreneur" - a combination of stay at home mommy and an entrepreneur. I am proud to finally be a business owner, something I've always dreamed of. I am taking on clients, from start-ups to multi-million dollar companies, to help them achieve their goals and objectives through various digital marketing tactics. If you know of anyone who needs help with their website, SEO, online advertising, social media, or email marketing, I'd be grateful for a referral. I'm excited to give a few examples of my work and keep an updated portfolio as projects complete.
