Squarespace

EXCELLENT INTERFACE USER-FRIENDLY SLEEK DESIGN

The majority of our client websites are on the Squarespace platform. Squarespace may be considered a do-it-yourself platform, and we love it because our clients feel comfortable maintaining their website after their project has ended with us. There’s nothing better than a client walking away feeling confident that they’re able to make changes to their website.

ABOUT THE PLATFORM

PROS & CONS OF A SQUARESPACE WEBSITE

THE PRO LIST

  • Ease of use. Our clients are not web developers - that's why they came to us in the first place! Since we typically transition site management over to the client and give them complete ownership at the launch of the site, it's very important to us that the platform be manageable for people with no website development experience. It's hard to top Squarespace in this category.

  • Blogging feature. Including a blog on your website is a great way to stay connected with your target audience and having a blog that you update consistently also boosts your SEO. Squarespace makes maintaining a blog extremely easy and does not limit the number of blogs you can have on your site at any one time, unlike other platforms.

  • Mobile & Responsive Design. Designing for mobile is paramount to website success these days. Mobile is so important that web designers often operate under a "mobile first" design philosophy. Unfortunately, not all platforms put as much emphasis on mobile and responsive design as Squarespace.

  • Comprehensive Solution. One of the primary reasons why Squarespace is so easy to use is because it is an all-in-one solution. Not only does the platform provide website design, it also includes website hosting, domain, email hosting, scheduling, email marketing, blogging, and content management.

THE CON LIST

  • Not Easy to Customize. Some companies require super custom features and capabilities in their website. Squarespace may not be capable without using third-party apps, plugins, and special coding.

  • Lacks E-Commerce Functionality. For stores that have more than 10-15 products, Squarespace’s e-commerce capabilities become cumbersome.

  • Page and Content Limits. For certain types of content, there are limits. For example, 200 products on each product page, 250 images or videos in a gallery, etc. Squarespace recommends no more than 400 pages on the website as it may slow down page load speed.

THE CONCLUSION

Squarespace is a great overall solution for websites that don’t need a lot of pages or a lot of custom functionality. For straightforward service-based clients, we recommend Squarespace 10/10.
